WELCOME TO ARTS AND PARTS WORKSHOP

What is the Arts & Parts Workshop?

Grief isn’t just about loss—it’s about the feelings we don’t always have words for. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a person, relationship, a shift in your identity, or something harder to name, it can feel overwhelming to hold it all inside.

  • Discover how creativity can be a powerful ally in healing and transforming grief, as we use the practice of art, writing, movement, and other expressive modalities.

  • Expand and deepen your connection to your inner wisdom as you explore the intersections of grief and creativity.

  • Gain relief from emotional overwhelm.

  • Experience connection in a safe, supportive environment.

This two-day, in-person workshop is designed to give you a different kind of space to process what you’re carrying—through creativity, quiet reflection, and gentle guidance. Held in an intimate art studio, you’ll have the opportunity to explore mixed-media art, using paints and collage, in a way that requires absolutely no artistic experience. Many people come in feeling hesitant, thinking, I’m not creative—but by the end of the first day, they’re eager to return early, surprised by the joy they’ve found in the process.

You’ll be guided through structured exercises that help you express what words sometimes can’t. There’s also open creative time to let you move at your own pace. If you prefer to reflect quietly, that space is fully supported. If you want to share, that’s welcome too—but never required.

By the end of the weekend, people often tell us they feel lighter, reconnected to a part of themselves they hadn’t felt in a long time, and deeply thankful they took this time just for themselves.

If you’ve been feeling stuck in your grief or searching for a way to process it that feels different from talking, this workshop is for you. Give yourself this time. You might just walk away with more than you expected.

Heidi Behr, LCSW- Specializes in trauma-informed therapies, couples work, grief, IFS therapy, and expressive arts.

Meet Your Guides

Healing through creativity is powerful, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. We—Heidi Behr and Jennifer Sigman—are here to guide you through this experience with warmth, compassion, and decades of expertise in both therapy and creative expression.

We’re both licensed therapists with over 30+ years of experience each, trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), sometimes called parts work. We’ve spent years making art together, exploring the intersection of creativity and healing, and helping people reconnect with themselves in meaningful ways.

We know that many people come to this workshop feeling hesitant—worried they aren’t “creative” or unsure of what to expect. That’s completely normal. You don’t need any artistic experience at all—just an open heart. We’ll gently guide you through the process, creating a space where you can explore, reflect, and, most importantly, feel safe.

Grief and transformation can be deeply personal, but you don’t have to do it alone. We look forward to sharing this journey with you.

Join us as we host Arts & Parts. Dive into and explore the transformative role of creativity and grief.

What is Parts Work?

*And does this mean we are doing therapy at this event?

If you’ve seen the movie Inside Out, you already have a sense of what it’s like to have different “parts” within you—each with its own emotions, reactions, and role in your life. Some parts carry grief, some are angry or happy, hold creativity, and others may feel stuck, scared, or even resistant to healing. Arts and Parts is about teaching you how to give your parts a voice, using art to help you express what words sometimes cannot.

* We are NOT doing therapy at Arts & Parts, but the weekend feels therapeutic to those who attend.

Testimonials from previous participants

  • DEBBIE

It was a beautiful experience! You lovely women (Heidi and Jen) were amazing facilitators. I think you made the art-making process accessible and provided a helpful amount of walk-about checking in as we created. Your thoughtfulness and generosity were such a gift -- everywhere you looked there was beauty and elements of delight. Every exercise and practice felt aligned with the whole. You assembled a remarkable group of women, and treated each of us with such dignity and care. I loved being part of this playshop. Truly. It was so good for my soul.”

  • JENNY

“I loved every bit of it. Heidi and Jenn really created a beautiful and supportive space where we could gather, share and create. Because I'd already been doing some parts work and was 'getting to know' some of my parts (fear, trust/faith, etc) I had some clear ideas of where I wanted to go with my canvas. Please know: I am NEW to paint and I loved using it.

  • LEILA

I really liked each part of the workshop. It was fun to explore the McRae studio space , the mediations were a good way to prepare for artwork, I love learning about IFS and appreciate how you continued to use parts language throughout, the demos were really helpful, and I truly loved the art portion of the workshop (my favorite part!

  • SUSAN
